On Sunday 18 May 2025, the big day finally arrived: More Nutrition, in an exclusive collaboration with Dr Oetker, launched a new flavour of the popular Chunky Flavour – Maulwurfkuchen. Expectations within the community were sky-high, and the launch exceeded even the most ambitious forecasts: The product was completely sold out within just one hour. As part of the 20% off everything promotion (promotion details), the Chunky was offered at launch at a special price of €11.19 (More Nutrition code SUPPLIGATOR).

This wasn’t just any old product launch. The collaboration between an innovative dietary supplement manufacturer and one of the biggest names on German bakery shelves – Dr Oetker – generated massive buzz in the run-up to the launch. The name ‘Maulwurfkuchen’ evokes nostalgic childhood memories for many, and it was precisely these that More Nutrition wanted to authentically capture in a Chunky flavour.

🍌 What does the Chunky Flavour ‘Mole Cake’ taste like?

The base note is dominated by a sweet, gently creamy and ripe banana flavour, complemented by a subtle hint of vanilla. The result is a very authentic banana flavour – not artificial, but creamy and well-rounded.

Particularly noteworthy are the numerous dried banana chunks, which not only provide a more intense flavour but also create a pleasant texture in the mouth. This is accompanied by a subtle cocoa-like nuance – this remains in the background but is noticeably present, particularly through the cocoa biscuit pieces and chocolate chips.

The chocolate element is somewhat subdued in cold dishes, but comes through more strongly in warm dishes such as porridge or rice pudding. Here, the chocolate chips melt gently and create a harmonious blend with the banana flavour.

🎯 By way of comparison, the flavour in cold dishes is reminiscent of Danone’s Chocolate-Banana Liane quark cream, but is less cloyingly sweet and significantly more natural.

Tip: Particularly delicious in overnight oats, ice cream, dessert creams or skyr – less suitable if you prefer dominant chocolate notes.
